It has been three years since we last had a retreat for anyone and everyone who has participated in an activity with the School of the Spirit Ministry. The Board has decided it’s high time for another.
Publicity for previous Spiritual Renewal Retreats opened with names of presenters and their topics. The fact that this information is absent, tells you how different this weekend will be. Our general schedule is below, but our goal and desire will be to follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit throughout the weekend. We will be using the “unconference” format, which means that anyone can host a topic, question, idea, or activity and everyone who is interested in it can participate. Suggestions for topics could be anything from “let’s take a walk and notice nature” to “knitting and talking about encounters with the Divine” to “Quaker theology” to “how to find support for ministry” to anything else that comes to mind. We encourage topics that enhance the spiritual life, but as Spirit is not limited to certain areas of life, pretty much anything is welcome. Sexuality? Ability/differences? Calling out micro-aggression with love? Yes, please! We all are the potential workshop leaders and God will provide our workshop topics. For more information about an “unconference,” click here to see the Quaker Women in Public Ministry page that explains it.
We’ll also have a couple of opportunities for folks to share the fruits that have grown after their participation in a School of the Spirit program. It will be lovely and enriching to hear how Spirit is active in our lives as a result of School of the Spirit!

Discernment questions regarding what to pay:
- Is the ‘Full Cost’ of this event within your means?
> If yes, can you pay a little more to support another?
> If the ‘Full Cost’ is not within your means, what can you pay?
> Have you considered asking your meeting or church for financial assistance?
Registration is in TWO steps.
STEP 1: click on the button below to register. The form will ask for your personal information, your room and dietary preferences, and what you can pay. Please note that if you want to register two people (yourself and your partner, for instance) you have to go through the form twice. Make sure you note “roommate preference” on both forms. Sorry for the inconvenience.
STEP 2: After you complete the registration, please write down or otherwise remember how much you owe. You can return to this page to pay with a credit card or PayPal (it’s a payment, not really a donation), or you can send a check to School of the Spirit Ministry, c/o 360 Blossom Hill Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
30 days or more prior to the event, full refund less $10 processing fee. 14-29 days prior to the event, 50% refund. Less than 14 days, no refund.
